The story behind Disco Dogs YYC

Meet founder Vida Santos and her Working Line German Shepherd, Moose- the dedicated duo driving individualized dog walking and training across Calgary.

About Vida & Moose

I have lived in south Calgary my whole life and one of my favourite parts about our city is how dog friendly it is! I love seeing dogs and their people out and about in the city, but trust me I know that taking your dog out in public can be challenging if you don't have the right tools to manage them. This is what drove me to start Disco dogs right here in the city, so I can make both owners and dogs lives easier. I have always been passionate about dog behaviour and have worked with countless dogs volunteering at the Calgary Humane Society, assisting with training therapy dogs with PALS, walking and training neighbours dogs, and consistently working at the local vet clinic to gain experience with dogs of all sizes, kinds, and temperaments.

When I’m not helping out around the community I am training my own dog, Moose. I credit where I am now completely to my dog Moose for getting me into the world of dog training and inspiring me to start Disco Dogs! He is a Working Line German Shepherd, and anyone who knows about german shepherds knows they can be a handful and require lots of training. I have worked hard with him, and currently compete in multiple dog sports with him and have earned many titles to showcase our work together. He has truly shaped me into the handler I am today and I cannot thank him enough for that. I hope to use Disco Dogs YYC to further educate other dog owners on their own pets behaviour and proper breed fulfillment! By providing structured, tailored walks to dogs of all kinds I aim to take stress off of owners to make life just a little more manageable, and of course make dogs happier.

"Vida's understanding of canine body language and individualized care completely transformed our walks. We know our dog is always in the most capable hands."
